Borough Market, London

Posted by Chee Wei On March - 29 - 2008 2 COMMENTS

Yesterday, we decided to visit the Borough Market which is located in the south east part of London. The market has been there for 20 centuries and they just celebrated their 250 years of trading. For more information, just visit the Borough Market’s official website.

Its time for some photos.

Borough Market, London

All these fresh vegetables came directly from the farm. Ahhh fresh carrots, leek, cabbage, and so many more. Yummy!!

Dead rabbits

Now, that makes me feel otherwise!! I find it very different to sell rabbits like this perhaps they were trying to say fresh rabbits? Poor little bunnies. Try not to look at the details as you might see things from under the skin.

The Monkfish

A fish stall. Saw many fresh fishes but they all look normal to me except for this one, the Monkfish. This type of fish basically swallows their whole prey this is why they have a big mouth.
“What if its not dead?” – quote, one of my friend =P hehe.

Shiny tomatoes and aubergines

Wow..look at that shiny tomatoes and aubergines I mean eggplants errr…also known as brinjals. Many names huh? Those vegetables do look a little fake to eat but its great for photography.

Cheese stall

Spotted this cheese stall, they were selling tonnes of cheeses. Probably a heaven for rats too. Are you one of them (those who were born in the year of rat :P ) So, as expected I went on and tried one of those cheeses before it gets too crowded. Don’t think, just give it a try! Go on!

Chocolate truffles

Ahh chocolates….they are my favourite! They have normal chocolates, dark chocolates and even the white ones. Wanted to try some of these truffles but there wasn’t anyone there so let’s just assume no testing!!! Anyway, let’s move on.

Come on, stop drooling let’s go.

tomatoes stall

To all tomatoes lovers, they only sell tomatoes. Ranging from tomato sauces to fresh little tomatoes. Red…red…very red…

No rubbish please, reuse rather than recycling

United Kingdom really emphasizes a lot on recycling materials. Of course, reusing is better than recycling at least I hope its only for tasting cups and not toilet papers =P.

olives and artichokes

For those who like olives and artichokes, here you go. Sorry, these are not quite my liking.

Turkish Delights

Turkish delights! What are you waiting for?

Nuts, macadamia, chocolates

They sell all sorts of nuts and chocolates too. Its about £1.79 for a hundred grams of any nuts. I tried the Macadamia coated with honey it tasted really good.

Arabic cuisine

Arabic cuisine! It smells really good, perhaps I should be more adventurous enough to
try on new things.

Fresh farm fruit juices

Fruit juice! Bought 3 bottles of 100% fruit juice, pear, apple + beetroot and apple + cranberry. They really taste brilliant because its made of 100% hand selected farm fruits. Now, carrying a camera bag with these 3 heavy glass bottles (1 litre each) isn’t really a good idea.

German Bratwurst

At last, its time for some food! Bratwurst (Brat – fine chopped meat and wurst – sausage) a German hotdog.

I think this should be a daisy, if I’ve not mistaken! haha. Double checked. Thanks to google.

Saw this when I was going through some of the photos I took last year in London’s Regent Park.
