Every month or so, my grandma will give us some free range eggs and sometimes chickens too. Not to forget some fresh fruit she has so lovingly planted and harvested! All ala natural and pesticide free.

All  because my grandma has a barn which is situated directly beside her house.  In this day and time I think its not easy keeping a barn when all of these produce are mass produced everywhere for bulk consumption. The cost benefit analysis of the time and patience also far outweighs growing your own. I think its incredible that my grandma, who is about 75 years old this year is still able to maintain her barn so well and this has really kept her healthy through the years.

Some hens running about freely. These are the best free range chickens you can ever find as they’re given ample space to run around and tlc from my grandma. These chickens are actually pretty tame and will eat out of your hand when you feed them, how cool is that? Anyone fancy a pet chicken?

Those little red things – dont know what they’re called actually, but they’re used to store drinking water for  the chickens. Many of you city kids might never have seen them before, thats why I’m sharing with photo with you!


Cute cat, surprisingly, cat and the chickens live together in perfect harmony and are best of friends. What a simple life, hehe!

More photos of the barn. I think its very special and pretty unusual these days to be able to experience village life. With the world moving towards modernization and sky scrapers filling the sky, many kids nowadays will not know of village life or anything beyond their favorite hangout spot or shopping center, which is really sad. There’s so much to gain from taking a step back from the hustle and bustle of the city, away from the rat race, escape into the countryside, into the village. Fresh produce, clean air, better standard of living, everything is pure and natural.



I present to you my super grandma in action! She’s trying to pluck some rambutans for us with a long rod with a knife at the end – in Malay its called galah, not sure about the proper English word

Grandma is in the process of removing the red ants from the scrumptious rambutans for us to savour as we’re all waiting impatiently, hehe!

BOH ada Ummph!

The BOH Tea Plantation,  located at Cameron Highlands is the largest tea plantation in Malaysia making it Malaysia’s largest black tea manufacturer. We pay a visit to this famous BOH Tea plantation to see for ourselves!

This the is BOH tea plantation which as you can see, is situated in a valley, surrounded by acres and acres of, you guessed it, TEA!  The settlements you see are of the BOH tea workers where they eat, breathe and pick TEA!

This stylish glass enclosure is the BOH Tea cafe. Enjoy a hot cuppa with the cool breeze caressing your face whilst enjoying a 360 degree view of lush greenery. Perfect on a lazy afternoon.

Cameron Highlands certainly provided a breath of freshness from the hustle and bustle of the city.

After checking into our accommodation, the first thing on our mind was FOOD!  Which couldn’t get any fresher than this farmer’s garden.

Workers could be seen watering the cabbages by hand.

Finally, it snowed in December, never expect it to snow in London during my short trip back to London.

Madeira is a Portugese Island located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. It is located about 1000 km southwest of its capital, Lisbon. In fact, Madeira is closer to Morocco than Portugal itself.

Madeira was discovered between 1418 to 1420.

This is a view from our hotel balcony. Below are all photos from Fuchal which is the capital of the island.

Madeira is pretty unique due to its geographical location. They do have both Tropical weather and winter as well.

Just realised my previous post was more than 5 weeks ago. The last few weeks before I left UK was rather busy and thinking that I would have more time when I get back to Malaysia was rather the opposite.

Anyway, here are more Munich photos. This photo was taken in front of the Nationaltheater München which is an opera house and the home base of the Bayerische Staatsoper (Bavarian State Opera), and the Bayerisches Staatsballett (Bavarian State Ballet).

Walk along the street of Residenzstraße, you will reach Odeonsplatz and this is where you’ll see the Feldherrnhalle on your left which is where this statue stands.

Proceed along the same street, you will see an arch on your right, go through it will bring you to the Hofgarten (court garden). This peaceful and colourful garden has long been an oasis in the middle of the city.

The doors standing tall below mark the hall of the Residenz Palace.

If you are a chocolate lover and fancy eating bugs, you might want to try some of these.

Which European city is divided by canals into nine small islands? I AM Amsterdam, also known as Venice of the North due to its many canals and waterways.

Spring is definitely the best time to visit when the tulips in Keukenhof Park are in full bloom!

Windmills are home to Amsterdam, a must see as if you get the chance.

However, these windmills are located in the countryside so get sightseeing!

We took a cruise on a glass-topped boat for a tour of the city via the canals. Pretty much like Venice in Italy.

The houses here are very different from those in other European countries. They are more height than width in very disproportionate measurements making them look paper thin and very cardboardlike!

Amsterdam was once a fishing village but has evolved into one of the largest cities in The Netherlands.

I just love the canals. Pity the closest we have is perhaps a big monsoon drain?
